About The Position

Responsible for phlebotomy, collecting diagnostic data, and assisting nursing personnel in providing patient care in their assigned areas. Assists patients through the triage process by collecting health data from patient, referring caregivers, and patient medical records. Performs routine duties and non-routine duties as directed by the nursing staff including admissions, transfers and discharges of patients. Answers call lights, offers nourishment and water, takes and records vital signs, ambulates, repositions and assists patients in and out of assistive devices and beds. Collects and processes specimens for point of care testing, including but not limited to, glucose blood sugar, urine hCG, urine drug screen, and breathalyzer. Collects blood and other specimens from patients as directed. Labels, transports or stores specimens as directed in an accurate and timely fashion. Assists in maintaining appropriate environment in the unit, including cleaning procedures as directed. Works with individual patients in a 1-on-1 setting or in a group setting that is consistent with the nursing care needs of the patient and the inter-disciplinary treatment plan. Assesses changes in patient's condition/behavior and provides input to RN in creating and modifying the nursing care plan and assists with implementing therapeutic activities. Assists with patient programming as well as being continually cognizant of the safety and welfare of all participants. Maintains accurate and concise records, documenting promptly all pertinent information in the patient's EMR and participates in quality control activities as directed.

Requirements

  • The individual must be able to work the hours specified.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
  • High School or GED Equivalent
