About The Position

The Triage Specialist at Baylor Genetics plays a pivotal role in the evaluation and processing of specimens, ensuring efficient triage operations and seamless coordination with the client services team. This position supports the accessioning team by performing essential accessioning duties and actively contributes to process improvements within the triage workflow.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as a Triage Specialist; or Associate degree with more than 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in triage operations; actively seeks opportunities for skill development and knowledge enhancement.
  • Approaches tasks with tact and responsibility; maintains composure under pressure; treats others with respect and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate triage cases and collaborate closely with the client services team to resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain regular follow-up on pending and on-hold samples to ensure quick turnaround times and minimize backlog.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance triage processes.
  • Open packages, accurately accession specimens according to established protocols as needed.
  • Scan, check, and file paperwork to ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping.
  • Perform routine and non-routine tasks to facilitate smooth departmental workflow.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adhere to safety standards within the laboratory environment.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new department members.
  • Perform clerical duties as directed, supporting operational efficiency.
  • Maintain compliance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
