About The Position

OBGYN South, a practice partner of Together Women's Health, is seeking a full-time Triage Registered Nurse to join its growing team. The Triage Nurse assesses patients, determines the severity of their conditions, and prioritizes care according to the urgency of their symptoms. The role includes telephone triage, patient education, coordinating follow-up care and testing, communicating between patients and physicians, and providing clinical support during clinic days. Applicants with Athena EMR and/or OB/GYN experience will be given priority.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
State of Alabama RN or LPN license.
BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of work experience as an RN or LPN; preferred but not required.
Athena EMR experience; highly preferred.
OB/GYN experience; preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs telephone triage and patient education; handles physician and pharmacy calls; may call to set up appointments or arrange hospital tests or admissions.
Completes paperwork, including medication refills, lab and x-ray orders, school or work notes, and FMLA documents.
Assesses patients, determines priority, and refers patients for emergency care as appropriate.
Counsels patients about lifestyle modifications, medication regimens, side effects, and interactions using an appropriate psychosocial communication level.
Communicates follow-up appointments and required ancillary or pre-operative testing and scheduling to patients and office coordinators.
Coordinates ordering tests and procedures with other clinical staff.
Responds to patient questions and concerns as a liaison between the physician and patient.
Develops office protocols and training documents to support onboarding of clinical staff.
Reports test results to patients as directed by the physician.
Provides clinical nurse support to providers and clinical medical staff during active clinic days.
