About The Position

Tree Production II employees support nursery production by shifting plants from one container size to a larger container as plants grow. This role helps ensure proper transplanting techniques are followed while maintaining plant quality and supporting efficient nursery production operations. Employees in this role work as part of the production team and assist with equipment use, plant care, and organization of plant material throughout the nursery. Tree Production II employees also help support the training and development of Level I employees by demonstrating proper work techniques and assisting with task guidance when needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to identify plant material and recognize plant quality standards.
  • Ability to follow proper planting and transplanting techniques.
  • Ability to operate basic nursery equipment safely.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a nursery, landscape, or agricultural environment.
  • Experience shifting plants or working in plant production operations.
  • Experience operating tractors, RTVs, or similar nursery equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Shift plant material from smaller containers to larger containers as plants grow.
  • Support the training and development of Level I employees within the department by demonstrating proper work techniques and assisting with task guidance as needed.
  • Follow proper planting techniques including root pruning, proper planting depth, and correct irrigation practices.
  • Identify plant material and maintain plant quality during the shifting process.
  • Assist with stocking and organizing trees after the shifting process is completed.
  • Operate equipment as needed to support production tasks.
  • Utilize and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) and company equipment.
  • Maintain nursery grounds by keeping work areas clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Handle nursery stock carefully and ensure plants are watered and placed in appropriate nursery locations.
  • Assist other nursery departments as needed.
  • Support general nursery operations and plant handling activities.
