About The Position

Good Shepherd Children & Family Services provides the highest quality foster care and treatment foster care, adoption, expectant parent counseling, maternity shelter, pregnancy services and advocacy. In response to the call of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, to help those in need, we connect children with families and keep families connected. Under the direction of the Director of Treatment Foster Care, the TFC Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of TFC Specialists who provide services to youth/families enrolled in the TFC program with a primary focus on treatment, stability, and permanency for the youth. Primary responsibilities include monitoring service delivery to assure compliance with contract expectations, licensing standards and accreditation requirements as related to TFC program services. This position demonstrates a commitment to connecting children to families and keeping families connected and provides all services in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field is preferred; 5 years’ experience in child welfare required with at least 3 years’ experience in supervision preferred. Extensive and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree in special circumstances with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
  • This job may be performed in the community and staff must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, reliable access to an automobile and valid automobile insurance is required.
  • Have a working knowledge of community resources; an understanding of juvenile court processes and Missouri child welfare laws, practices and licensing standards; an understanding of federal child welfare laws; and an understanding of family systems, the impact of abuse and neglect; substance abuse; mental illness; poverty; grief and loss; and trauma on children and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to TFC staff assuring that services are provided in accordance with the contract, licensing standards, CD policy and accreditation requirements.
  • Assist in the hiring, orientation and training of staff. Provide ongoing evaluation and support of staff performance to enhance performance including arranging to meet staff training needs.
  • Provide approval for case notes, treatment plans, progress notes and monthly summaries in FamCare. Review and sign case materials as required and assure that case records contain required information and meet best practice standards.
  • Oversee all data entry in the electronic database (FamCare) – as the primary client record.
  • Be available to assist staff/provide case coverage in event of crisis or emergency.
  • Assign cases to workers and monitor to ensure even distribution among workers and maintain caseload standards.
  • Keep abreast of agency, local, state and federal policy and practice related to treatment foster care, foster care, adoption and behavioral health.
  • Provide information and feedback to management team and attend meetings as needed.
