About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a Treatment Counselor, TX LCDC Intern, for Community Corrections (Substance Abuse). The role involves assessing and supporting program participants and facilitating treatment interventions in accordance with partner agencies and applicable state regulations, statutes, policies, and procedures. The counselor documents and monitors treatment progress, maintains confidential clinical files, and supports participants in ongoing recovery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field; additional qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• LCDC Intern license.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in mental health or substance use counseling.

Responsibilities

• Interview and assess prospective program participants using appropriate screening and assessment instruments.
• Establish rapport with participants and determine individual and group needs using assessment results and other collateral sources.
• Facilitate individual and group treatment interventions in accordance with partner agencies and applicable regulations, statutes, policies, and procedures.
• Use standardized offender assessment information to develop treatment plans or specific programs.
• Encourage participant engagement in treatment and promote positive attitudes, skills, and coping mechanisms to support ongoing recovery.
• Plan participant incentives and use appropriate therapeutic tools to manage behavioral issues or concerns.
• Maintain confidential participant clinical files, including intake documents, assessments, interviews, treatment plans and reviews, progress notes, discharge summaries, and referrals, in accordance with written protocols and applicable laws and regulations.
• Document and track treatment plans, monitor participant progress, and review participant status to verify completion of treatment and therapeutic programs.
