About The Position

The Arlington County Treasurer’s Office is seeking a Treasury Program Specialist I - Compliance and Research Specialist to assist with the collection of delinquent accounts and participate on the call center team within the Compliance Division of the Arlington County Treasurer’s Office. The employee will perform a variety of front-line customer service, compliance, administrative and/or technical support duties to assist in the collection and processing of delinquent taxes and fees. The Treasurer's Office serves an ethnically and culturally diverse population that includes a large number of Spanish-speaking clients for whom English is a second language.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED, or equivalent
  • Considerable experience in performing responsible administrative support activities, preferably in customer service roles and/or working directly with the public

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using a wide range of software programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Experience working directly with the public explaining policies, procedures and/or tax regulations to customers

Responsibilities

  • Contacting debtors regarding delinquent accounts
  • Responding to inquiries received in person, by email, and by phone in a call center environment
  • Explaining tax policies and regulations
  • Conducting skip traces to determine debtors' whereabouts
  • Referring customers to other County and/or State agencies as needed
  • Submitting delinquent accounts for lien and seizure when appropriate
  • Providing customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing coverage for the Compliance window and performing related administrative functions as scheduled, including supporting alternate assignments during high-demand periods
  • Performing additional duties as assigned to support the Compliance Division’s ability to meet annual performance goals
  • Assisting with the training of new team members by sharing knowledge and best practices to promote a consistent, high-performing work environment
