About The Position

The Treasurer shall be appointed by the Principal Chief and confirmed by the Osage Nation Congress. It is the policy of the Osage Nation to promote a strong fiscal policy and ensure financial accountability according to strict accounting standards through a Department of the Treasury, and to administer all funds of the Osage Nation through a Chief Financial Officer, the Treasurer. The Osage Nation Congress shall maintain oversight and shall prescribe the powers and duties of the Treasurer, including presenting to the Osage Congress an annual audited financial statement for the Osage Nation government. The Treasurer shall accept, receipt for, keep and safeguard all tribal funds as directed by the Congress and shall maintain and provide an accurate record of such Tribal Funds. The Treasurer and the Department of the Treasury are established, by Osage Law, in the Executive Branch and under the authority of the Principal Chief as allowed by Osage Law and the Osage Constitution.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required with a Certified Public Accountants license
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience administering a governmental fund accounting system required
  • Be at least twenty-five (25) years of age
  • Have never been convicted of a felony
  • Responsibly manage the Nations funds to obtain maximum productivity
  • Be bondable to an amount not less than the upper limit of their signing authority

Responsibilities

  • Accept, receipt for, keep and safeguard all tribal funds as directed by the Congress
  • Maintain and provide an accurate record of such Tribal Funds
  • Present to the Osage Congress an annual audited financial statement for the Osage Nation government
  • Develop and implement fiscal policies and procedures
  • Manage financial systems
  • Develop and implement training programs
  • Develop and manage tactical and strategic plans of governmental structure entities, gaming entities, business enterprise entities and any other future entity under the purview of the Osage Nation Executive Branch
  • Develop and monitor related budgets to assure successful implementation of the programs or departments operations
