Traveling Veterinarian (Part-Time) – Flexible Schedule- Ohio
About The Position
CareVet's Traveling DVM program is designed for experienced veterinarians who want flexibility without sacrificing clinical quality, earning potential, or support. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice great medicine while having the freedom to enjoy your time off. You can choose between a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule (averaging 20 hours per week) or a 3 weeks on / 1 week off schedule, with the company building the schedule around your preferences. Traveling DVMs rotate across high-performing hospitals throughout Ohio, experiencing a variety of practice styles and caseloads. CareVet hospitals are equipped with modern diagnostics and treatment capabilities, and prioritize clinical autonomy, trusting veterinarians to make the right decisions for their patients with the support of a collaborative network.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
- Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
- Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
- Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
- Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
- Strong fondness and understanding of animals
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of animal behavior
- Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals
Responsibilities
- Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
- Treat and dress wounds
- Perform surgery on animals
- Test for and vaccinate against diseases
- Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
- Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
- Prescribe medication
- Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
