About The Position

We are seeking a Traveling Technician to join our team. This role involves diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to security and surveillance systems, performing preventative maintenance, and providing on-site technical assistance to customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical troubleshooting, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This position requires frequent travel and occasional work during evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical support or field service, with a proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Experience in the fire, security and surveillance industry is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of security and surveillance systems, including hardware, software, and network components.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and problem-solving, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • NICET Level 1 certification in Fire Alarm Systems, or equivalent is required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or vocational training in electronics, electrical systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Additional certifications related to security and life safety systems are a plus.
  • Driver's License (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to security and surveillance systems, including cameras, access control devices, alarm systems, and other related hardware and software.
  • Conduct thorough system inspections and preventative maintenance to identify and address potential problems before they impact operations.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring systems are restored to full functionality.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to analyze system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance to customers, demonstrating professionalism and expertise.
  • Serve as a technical expert and trusted advisor to customers, providing clear explanations and solutions to their concerns.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, even when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Proactively communicate with customers regarding the status of service requests and repairs, ensuring transparency and managing expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, fostering trust and loyalty.
  • Collaborate with the Service Coordinator and other technicians to ensure efficient service delivery and resource allocation.
  • Share technical knowledge and expertise with other team members, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, helping them develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of service calls, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Complete service reports and documentation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Utilize the service ERP system to track and manage service requests, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
