About The Position

As a Traveling Superintendent, you will be working on exciting projects in different markets, often with extended overnight stays out of town. Travel may range from 90 miles from a local rand office, to other states across the country. The Superintendent is responsible for all the field staff on a project and will make sure that projects are built according to plans and specifications. They will supervise work of all subcontractors, vendors, laborers and other project stakeholders. They are responsible, along with Project Manager for having the material, tools/equipment, information and staff requirements on the jobsite in the proper place in a timely fashion. The Superintendent handles all correspondence and forms required by the rand office, e.g., daily reports, time sheets, safety reports, accident reports, etc. They will monitor the work being performed, direct the subcontractors and schedule all work according to the requirements of the project schedule. The superintendent effectively utilizes management skills in directing supervision of subcontractors, along with coordinating subcontractor’s activities within the scope of their duties. This position also requires excellent communication skills, both internal with the rand project team, as well as externally with the client team. The Superintendent is responsible for promoting rand’s reputation for exceptional client service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or experience working in the trades is required.
  • 15 years’ experience as lead superintendent on commercial interior, retail or building renovation projects.
  • Exemplary performance in all project safety related categories.
  • 6 years’ experience as lead superintendent on commercial interior projects.
  • OSHA 30.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • College experience preferred.
  • OSHA Competent Persons Training preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience as lead superintendent on commercial interior, retail, or building renovation projects.
  • Proven track record of independent judgment and decision-making when faced with matters of executive or non-routine nature.
  • Ability to anticipate and be proactive.
  • Ability to deal professionally and diplomatically with individuals at all levels.
  • Able to troubleshoot and solve highly complex project-related issues with all levels of team members.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, deliver as needed.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments with a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise work of all subcontractors, vendors, laborers and other project stakeholders.

  • Audit jobsites during site walks to ensure standards are being met.
  • Assist teams with complex and specialty quality control issues.
  • Assist teams with pre-punch walks to identify quality trends and ensure smooth/timely punch list process.
  • Train and coach Superintendents at all levels to meet rand's high standards of administration and organization.
