About The Position

Under direction of the Lab Services Director, the Specimen Processor is responsible for independently drawing and registering specimens and delivering results. The Specimen Processor must demonstrate skills in obtaining specimens from all age groups serviced utilizing a variety of blood collection devices and safety devices. They must also demonstrate good clerical skills and computer skills in data entry and communications skills with patients, coworkers, and other departments. This position is also responsible for specimen processing of samples sent to approved reference labs and other lab departments. Traveling to facilities in surrounding areas and working weekends is required for this position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have (5) five years of phlebotomy experience, with experience in geriatric specimen collection
  • Must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • May require a Motor Vehicle Driving Record Background Check

Nice To Haves

  • A certificate in Phlebotomy from an accredited phlebotomy course
  • Certified Office Laboratory Technician
  • Patient Care Technician (PCT)
  • On the job training is also acceptable
