About The Position

Join RHI Magnesita, the global leader in refractory products, systems, and services. As a Traveling Service Technician, you'll play a critical role supporting customers across North America by providing hands-on technical expertise, refractory installation support, equipment maintenance, inspections, and field service solutions. This highly visible role offers the opportunity to work with a variety of industrial customers while traveling extensively to support critical plant operations and refractory projects. Travel up to 80% is expected, with the potential for future international assignments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of industrial field service, refractory, steel or non-ferrous metals experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience operating forklifts, aerial lifts, and other industrial equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Valid international passport or ability to obtain a passport required.
  • English fluency.
  • MSHA part 46b or 48 certifications or ability to obtain required
  • OSHA 10 or 30 or ability to obtain required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, work varying shifts, and perform physically demanding work in industrial environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform tasks in confined spaces.
  • Ability to present yourself in a professional manner and build strong customer relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with refractory installation, bricklaying, welding, forming, pouring, shotcrete, or gunning applications in steel and industrial applications is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic reporting systems (e.g. Concur, ADP, Dayforce) is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites throughout the United States to support refractory installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities. Up to 80% travel expected.
  • Install and repair refractory systems in kilns, furnaces, vessels, and other industrial equipment.
  • Perform welding, cutting, grinding, anchor installation, forming, and pouring activities as required.
  • Support gunning and shotcrete refractory applications and material trials at customer locations.
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and layouts to ensure accurate installation and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct kiln audits, ovality measurements, and 3D scans of kilns, furnaces, and vessels.
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment, scanners, thermal imaging cameras, and related diagnostic tools.
  • Operate forklifts, manlifts, scissor lifts, and other construction and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment including rotary guns, jackhammers, rivet busters, and related machinery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, expense reports, and project records while representing RHI Magnesita professionally at customer sites.
