About The Position

S.J. Louis Construction, Inc. is a leading national construction contractor specializing in underground utility, tunneling, and excavation services. They are seeking a Traveling Safety Manager to join their team. This role involves ensuring safety compliance across various construction projects throughout the country.

Requirements

  • Experience in Excavation and Trenching Safety a Must
  • Confined space experience required
  • Thorough knowledge of 29 CFR 1926
  • A history of developing effective Safety initiatives that reduce accidents/incidents and heighten Safety awareness among employees
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to travel to jobsites throughout the United States - up to 80% - 100%

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Director of Safety and Risk Management, assists in the planning, administration, implementation, and enforcement of the Company's Safety Programs to control risks and losses.
  • Assists with implementation of job-specific requirements relating to safety, hazard analysis, and emergency action plans.
  • Facilitates drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company, federal, and state requirements.
  • Conducts regular safety audits and inspections of assigned construction projects and other onsite personnel. Identifies hazardous conditions and reports findings to the Director of Safety. Ensures safety issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates safety and loss control training for supervisors, employees, and subcontractors, as required by Company Policy, Outside Regulatory Agencies, or Contract Specifications.
  • Organizes and maintains required record keeping of site safety activities, employee training, and certifications.
  • Conducts accident/incident investigations as needed. Identifies root cause(s) and recommends corrective action measures.
  • Ensures accident/incident reporting procedures and medical treatment/first aid plans are followed.
  • Prepares and submits required reporting to the Director of Safety and Risk Management.
  • Reports observations or violations to the Director of Safety and Risk Management for enforcement.
  • Records hazards and personnel exposure occurrences as required.
  • Provides understanding and interpretations of local, provincial, and federal regulations and statutes relative to environmental safety, employee safety, and Workers' Compensation to ensure the Company's compliance.
  • Assists in maintaining positive and productive relationships and communication with employees, outside agencies, or organizations as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
