About The Position

Sunrun is seeking an experienced Non-Certified Electrician to join their brand-new St. Louis branch. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on leadership experience with the established Chicago team for the first few months before permanently leading installation crews out of the St. Louis branch when it opens in early 2027. Sunrun invests in employee skills and career development through their Power+ program, offering cross-training in solar, battery, and service operations for long-term job security. The position involves travel with a rotation schedule, a company vehicle, paid travel time, and company-paid lodging and meal allowances.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess 75% of the hours required to sit for state-specific electrical certification exams (Certified Electrical Trainee preferred or required depending on state regulations).
  • Hands-on electrical installation and repair experience, including work with wiring up to 600 VDC / 480 VAC.
  • Working knowledge of replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NEC codes, ability to interpret single-line drawings/PV system schematics from roof to meter, and solid understanding of solar interconnection principles and basic construction.
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (ability to pass a driving background check).
  • Strong troubleshooting and logical decision-making skills, customer focus, and a results-driven attitude with the ability to lead when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist in the installation of electrical systems interconnecting residential solar arrays and battery storage systems to the power grid.
  • Perform Main Panel Upgrades (MPUs), troubleshoot system issues, resolve electrical problems, and assist with necessary repairs or commissioning.
  • Support the PV installation crew on-site and step up to lead the crew when the Foreperson is absent.
  • Ensure work meets high workmanship standards, complies with current NEC and local codes, and strictly adheres to OSHA safety standards and Sunrun practices.
  • Coordinate with local inspectors as assigned, and work closely with homeowners and branch teams to deliver a top-tier customer experience.
