About The Position

Wachter is seeking self-motivated and reliable technicians for service and special installation projects, who can work independently and find solutions to complete the job. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, such as large distribution centers, and do not mind extensive travel. The technician will coordinate daily tasks with the Foreman, operate heavy equipment like 40ft+ lifts, and ensure installations remain on schedule. Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of low-voltage or data cabling experience
  • Strong Cat6 and fiber termination and testing skills
  • Experience with paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling
  • Ability to read prints and work with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable working at height and in large warehouse environments
  • Ability to work independently or support small crews
  • Proficient with smartphones, email, and basic spreadsheets
  • Basic telecommunications tools, PPE, and reliable transportation
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work 50–60 hour weeks

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber (single-mode and multi-mode) cabling
  • Perform paging, wireless/AP cabling, CCTV, and access control cabling
  • Lead and support small crews of 2–4 technicians as a working lead when assigned
  • Build and dress MDFs, IDFs, racks, patch panels, and cable management
  • Install cable pathways including J-hooks, ladder rack, innerduct, and tray
  • Operate boom and scissor lifts (40+ ft work)
  • Troubleshoot cabling and system issues
  • Ensure cables are neatly dressed, labeled, and installed per standards
  • Provide daily progress updates to the Lead or Foreman
  • Follow all safety, quality, and site requirements
