About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Traveling Land Survey Instrument Operator to support pipeline and utility projects from Alabama to New York, based out of our Wall, NJ office. This position is ideal for someone with strong field experience, technical proficiency, and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality survey data. In this role, you will work outdoors, operate modern survey instruments, and support daily field operations. You may also assist the Survey Crew Chief with planning and executing field activities. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to perform effectively under the direction of the Survey Crew Chief.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of land surveying experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficiency with modern survey equipment and methods, including total stations and data collectors.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations, compute offsets, and determine points.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods and work flexible hours, including overtime.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors, walk long distances, and carry equipment throughout the day.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Leica, Trimble GPS and Total Stations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Static and RTK GPS is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating field activities, ensuring efficient operation, performance, and maintenance of all survey equipment.
  • Perform fieldwork for boundary, topographic, physical, and construction stakeout surveys.
  • Operate GPS units, conventional total stations, and data collectors to provide accurate locations, stakeouts, and field measurements.
  • Support the Crew Chief with field tasks and data collection.
  • Potentially oversee daily operations of a field crew, ensuring accuracy and quality across all survey types.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
