About The Position

The Superintendent/Foreman manages the daily site activities by ensuring the project is constructed in accordance with safety, design, budget, and schedule. The Superintendent/Foreman directly manages the lead personnel and staff on each project site. This role involves daily communication with General Superintendents regarding job-specific needs, including workforce and equipment requirements, and daily contact with job site crews to ensure project time schedules and workforce needs are met. The position also includes scheduling and monitoring subcontractors, maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring employees have up-to-date safety information, conducting daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box topics. Responsibilities also include completing daily record keeping (logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, time cards), managing field personnel fairly, addressing staff performance issues, participating in pre-construction and regular job site meetings, providing documentation for safety issues, equipment damage, and workplace injuries, and ensuring all work follows specified quality standards. The role involves inspecting field work and materials for quality compliance, responding to customer or regulatory inquiries, and participating in ongoing training for construction methods and safety, while also supporting training opportunities for staff. The employee must keep their supervisor informed of any known actions that may affect their ability to perform assignments or company operations.

Requirements

  • Two to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • OSHA 30 hour certification.
  • HAZWOPER certificate.
  • Excavating Safety Training.
  • Blueprint Training.
  • CPR certification.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, reports, plans, specifications, and legal documents.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel spreadsheets, iPad, and iPhone.
  • Ability to communicate and schedule project needs appropriately.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, for working with management, employees, vendors, and business associates.
  • Ability to clearly communicate directions and information.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups and individuals.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions and apply them to practical field quantity situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must possess the ability to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be over the age of 18.
  • Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.

  • Ensures all work follows specified quality standards, inspecting field work and materials for compliance.
  • Responds to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.
  • Participates in regular training for construction methods and safety.
  • Supports training opportunities for staff.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of known actions that may affect job performance or company operations.
