About The Position

Since 1933, Heath Consultants has been a trusted leader in natural gas leak detection and safety services, protecting communities, utilities, and the environment. The company is recruiting full-time traveling technicians who live and travel in their RVs, requiring 80% travel. This role is designed for the full-time RVer, offering an RV site stipend, travel pay between assignments, and steady field work. As a Traveling Leak Survey Technician, you will rotate across assigned territories, inspecting natural gas distribution systems, detecting leaks with advanced equipment, and ensuring the communities served are safe. Heath Consultants provides comprehensive paid training and industry certifications, meaning no prior gas industry experience is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to pass a DOT drug screen and background check
  • Reliable personal vehicle meeting program standards (4-door, backup camera, hands-free capable, professional appearance)
  • Active auto insurance (min. 100/300/100 or $300,000 CSL)
  • Proof of insurance at renewal
  • Proficiency with smartphones and tablets for field reporting
  • Ability to read and interpret utility maps
  • Strong reliability, accountability, and a safety-first mindset
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Live and travel in an RV (80% travel required)

Responsibilities

  • Inspect natural gas distribution systems across assigned territories
  • Conduct leak surveys using industry-leading gas detection technology
  • Accurately document findings and complete compliance reports
  • Follow strict safety protocols and federal/local regulations
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and members of the public
  • Walk approximately 4–7 miles per day
  • Work in varied terrain and weather conditions
  • Bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Stay on your feet throughout your shift
