Traveling Equipment Operator

Metalico•Girard, OH

About The Position

Metalico Youngstown is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to travel with and operate its mobile baler at customer locations. The operator works offsite with very little supervision, follows safe operating practices and equipment limitations, and performs daily maintenance on the machine. Travel may involve being away for days to a week at a time over multiple weeks, with the operator home on weekends. The role also involves presenting a neat, professional manner to maintain customer relationships, loading and unloading the machine, and loading dump-style and flatbed-style trucks. Work is out of town 85% of the time. When the worksite is more than one hour away, the operator follows the baler to the location in a personal vehicle, helps the driver set up, and works 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. or the worksite’s hours if different. Metalico Youngstown covers mileage to and from the worksite and mileage to meals and hotels, as well as hotel stays and meal reimbursement. Overtime and weekend work may be required to complete a job, and schedules may change to meet business and production needs. When not traveling, the employee may help in the shop and may be asked to cross-train on other equipment.
