Traveling Commercial Roofer - 5 Month Project
About The Position
This is a 5-month traveling assignment (late September 2026 through February/March 2027) with full-time hours straight through the winter. The role starts with a paid training week in early September, followed by travel to Ohio with the crew for the project duration. This is a full-time employee position with JR & Co., offering a permanent spot on a local crew after the project concludes. The company has a 40-year track record and a deep backlog. Total project earnings are estimated between $45,000–$85,000 over 5 months, including wages, per diem, and bonus. The role guarantees a 6-day, 10-hour schedule with overtime every week, ensuring no winter layoff. Lodging arrangements and a daily per diem are provided while on the road, with the ability to fly home for holidays.
Requirements
- For experienced journeymen and foreman-level roofers: 3–5+ years commercial roofing experience
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a genuine desire to work and earn
- Able to commit to 5 months of travel (home for holidays)
- Pass a background check and drug screen; meet project site access requirements
- Reliable transportation to your home market's shop; valid driver's license preferred
Nice To Haves
- For crew members: Construction experience preferred, not required
Responsibilities
- Install commercial roofing systems safely and to JR & Co. quality standards
- Load, stage, and handle roofing materials and equipment
- Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols, including fall protection at heights
- Work as part of a tight-knit traveling crew - show up on time, work hard, and look out for your teammates
- Experienced journeyman/foreman: lead by example, train and mentor younger crew members, and take accountability for your crew's quality and safety
