About The Position

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Travel Specialist to support our Huntsville, AL location. The Project Manager Advanced C-UAS Effects (PM ACE) is currently seeking a Defense Travel System (DTS) Coordinator to support an Army Project Office operating in a high operational tempo (OPTEMPO) environment. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of travel generation, coordination, and execution for military and government civilian personnel as well support contractors as needed. Candidates must understand the intense demands of working in a dynamic, rapid-response strategic command, with daily tasks and goals focused on ensuring accurate, mission-ready, and compliant travel logistics.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience utilizing the Defense Travel System (DTS) and an in-depth working knowledge of the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
  • Proven ability to perform and thrive in a highly dynamic, fast-paced work environment supporting a high OPTEMPO military or government organization.
  • Prior experience supporting an Army Project Office or similar command-level organization.
  • High degree of professionalism and strict attention to detail, specifically regarding financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly brief leadership and effectively assist travelers across all ranks and grades.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex travel routing, funding, and ticketing issues under tight deadlines.
  • Dependable self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, capable of multitasking and prioritizing assignments effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work.
  • High School diploma and DTS experience in a DoD program/project office environment is required.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, review, and finalize travel authorizations and vouchers for complex CONUS and OCONUS travel using the Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), providing authoritative guidance on government travel policies, per diem allowances, and contract fares.
  • Rapidly analyze, modify, and resolve evolving travel plans, proactively managing last-minute changes to flights, lodging, and transportation driven by high OPTEMPO mission shifts.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Office leadership, operations staff, and executive assistants to synchronize and de-conflict travel schedules with critical operational calendars.
  • Assist travelers with creating and tracking travel authorizations, process travel vouchers, and ensure reviews and approvals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate visit requests and security clearances for various DoD, test, and contractor sites in conjunction with the security office.
  • Assist travelers with Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) issues, monitor account statuses, and review/resolve any purchase card discrepancies to ensure continuous audit readiness.
  • Manage DTS administrative functions including routing list maintenance, cross-organization funding coordination, and line of accounting (LOA) application
