About The Position

This position is responsible for traveling nationwide to perform highly diversified and complex installations, terminations and cable testing, and ensure project installations meets safety and industry standards. Trains and directs Technicians and Technician Helpers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience in the telecommunications industry
  • Required cable installation certifications
  • Knowledge of category rated testers, Cat 3, Cat 5, Cat 5e and Cat 6 cable troubleshooting
  • Advanced knowledge of fiber optic cable requirements, fire stopping and grounding
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time
  • Ability to read, analyze and decipher scopes of work
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, punch down, shears and crimp tools
  • Ability to read floor plans
  • Excellent oral, written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Skill in directing the implementation of telecommunication projects
  • Ability to lead people and obtain results through others
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands
  • Ability to train and direct others
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers and customers
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to climb or balance

  • Ability to work in tight/enclosed areas
  • Ability for repetitive motions of wrist, hand, or fingers
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with heavier weight necessary at times

Responsibilities

  • Travel 100% of the time for the duration of a project; dependent upon size of project
  • Install cable support systems in new or existing buildings
  • Establish cable pathways as prescribed by industry standards
  • Terminate and test copper voice/data cables
  • Install termination blocks, patch panels and station hardware
  • Install, terminate, test and troubleshoot fiber optic cable
  • Collaborate with Manager and Customer in project planning and implementation
  • Coordinate and deliver all required materials, equipment, and safety gear
  • Prepare and maintain daily job journals, field change order forms, material inventory forms and all required documentation
  • Assist installation kickoff on-site and development of work and safety plan with crew members
  • Manage location schedules including start time, break time and stop time
  • Train and direct Technicians and Technician Helpers on project installs and safety standards
  • Cleanup work site each day
  • Comply with all safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
