Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced RN Case Manager for a travel assignment in Santa Monica, California. This role supports an acute care hospital case management team focused on utilization review, care coordination, and discharge planning for adult and geriatric patients. POSITION OVERVIEW This assignment is ideal for experienced inpatient Case Managers who are confident managing high caseloads, coordinating care across interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring appropriate utilization of healthcare resources. ASSIGNMENT DETAILS • 13-week contract • Day shift 5x8s (08:00–16:30) • Weekend requirement: every other weekend, minimum 2 shifts in a 4-week schedule • Caseload: approximately 20–22 patients per day • Patient ratio: 1:20 • Floating required within system as needed COMPENSATION Because travel rates change frequently based on market demand and facility needs, our recruiters provide the most current and competitive pay packages during your initial conversation. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform utilization review using InterQual criteria • Coordinate patient care and discharge planning • Conduct admission reviews and determine level of care appropriateness • Collaborate with physicians, social services, and interdisciplinary teams • Facilitate prior authorizations and insurance coordination • Assess patient needs including DME and post-acute care services • Develop and manage individualized care plans • Document in Epic EMR system WORK ENVIRONMENT • Acute care hospital • Case management and utilization review department • Adult and geriatric patient population • Dress code: business casual with lab coat or dark solid scrubs with lab coat
