Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Vascular Stepdown Intermediate Care
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Vascular Stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This position is for a Temporary Traveler. The unit is a 24-bed stepdown intermediate care unit that specializes in vascular surgery, telemetry and renal/pancreas transplant patients. It is part of the Surgical Specialty Team at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Staffing is comprised of RNs, LPNs, NCPs (nursing care partners) and UAs (unit ambassadors) and CSAs (clinical support associates). The unit performs vascular surgeries such as aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral bypass surgeries and amputations. Nurses on this unit are specially trained and can sit for the PCCN certification. All beds on the unit are monitored beds. The unit cares for a variety of patients with telemetry needs, providing an environment conducive to extensive learning and skill development. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:4, sometimes 1:5.
Requirements
- Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required
- Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale
- 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience
Responsibilities
- Provide care for vascular surgery patients.
- Provide care for telemetry patients.
- Provide care for renal/pancreas transplant patients.
- Monitor patients in a stepdown intermediate care setting.
- Administer care to patients with telemetry needs.
- Obtain PCCN certification (with assistance from the hospital).
