About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse to work a 14-week assignment on Mother/Baby. The Mom-Baby Nurse sees that the newborn is assessed, cleaned, fed, and swaddled, and educates the new Mom on proper infant care. The unit encourages the new Mom to room with their new baby. The Nurses assess, ensure that proper healing is occurring, and provide self-care education to our new Moms during the post-partum stay.

Requirements

Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
Basic Life Support (BLS)
NRP
Two or more years of current Mother/Baby hospital RN experience
Experience with High Risk Newborns
Experience with Magnesium drips
Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required

Responsibilities

Assess new mothers to ensure proper healing is occurring.
Provide self-care education to new mothers during the post-partum stay.
Assess the newborn, including cleaning, feeding, and swaddling.
Educate new mothers on proper infant care.
Room new mothers with their new babies.
