Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Hospice
About The Position
VitalCaring is seeking experienced Travel Hospice Registered Nurses (RNs) to join their team. This role involves providing clinical expertise to Hospice teams across their organization, stepping into markets where their experience is most needed to support patients, strengthen local teams, and ensure continuity of care. This is not traditional bedside travel nursing; care is provided where patients call home, offering exposure to different communities, teams, and markets. As a Hospice Travel RN, you will deploy to VitalCaring hospice branches based on staffing and operational needs, including periods of growth, vacancies, acquisitions, onboarding, and critical staffing needs. You will provide skilled nursing care, conduct comprehensive assessments, develop individualized plans of care, manage patient caseloads, coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers. The role also involves supporting recovery and independence for Home Health patients and comfort-focused, end-of-life care for Hospice patients, quickly integrating into new teams, workflows, and patient populations, helping to stabilize branch operations and promote consistent clinical practices and patient experiences across markets. Timely and accurate clinical documentation, participation in on-call responsibilities, and maintaining regulatory and quality standards are also key aspects of the position.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Active Compact RN License (NLC), or willingness and ability to obtain Compact Licensure within the established timeframe.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive Hospice nursing experience.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively based on business need - anticipated 75+% travel, depending on assignment.
Nice To Haves
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred.
- Experience supporting multiple branches, markets, acquisitions, or startup environments preferred.
- BSN and/or CHPN certification preferred.
Responsibilities
