Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Specialties Unit
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General 5K Medical Surgical Specialties Unit is hiring for a Travel Registered Nurse! This is a temporary full-time, 14-week assignment on the day shift. The unit is a 42-bed telemetry-monitored unit specializing in the care of adult surgical patients recovering from various surgeries including Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow. Patients on this unit may have conditions such as renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure. The unit also includes 6 beds for Epilepsy monitoring and serves as the Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit. The average patient stay is 3-4 days.
Requirements
- Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required
- Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience
Responsibilities
- Care for adult surgical patients
- Care for patients with renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure
- Monitor patients on telemetry
- Provide care for patients in the Epilepsy monitoring unit
- Provide care for living kidney donors
