About The Position

Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Surgical ICU to work a 14-week assignment. This is a temporary full-time position on the day shift. The unit is a 20-bed unit where nurses typically manage 1-2 patients based on acuity. Nurses provide care to patients who have undergone various open heart surgeries, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, TAVR, ablations, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support devices like the Total Artificial Heart and ECMO. The role also involves managing critically ill patients requiring intensive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, multiple drug infusions, IABP therapy, and CRRT.

Requirements

• Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required
• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale
• Must have at least two years of Cardiac ICU recent hospital experience to work as a Traveler.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients who have undergone open heart surgeries such as CABG, Valve repair or replacement, aneurysm repair, TAVR, ablations, Heart Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support devices including the Total Artificial Heart and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and various lung surgeries.
• Manage critically ill patients that require intensive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, multiple drug infusions, IABP therapy and CRRT.
