Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac procedural/Surgical Intermediate Care
About The Position
Sentara Heart Hospital, located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, is seeking a Travel Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Procedural & Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (4HH East). This is a temporary full-time, 14-week assignment on the night shift. The 24-bed unit provides care to pre and post cardiac surgery patients, including bypass surgery, cardiac valve repairs/replacements, thoracic surgery/lung diagnostics, and other cardiac procedures like ablations, left atrial appendages, ICDs, and permanent pacemakers. The unit also cares for patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain, with a focus on high-quality care, patient outcomes, safety, and teamwork. Nurses typically manage 3-4 patients based on acuity, potentially up to 5 depending on staffing. The team is committed to providing opportunities for training, development, and growth.
Requirements
- Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required
- Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale
- 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience
Responsibilities
- Provide care to pre and post cardiac surgery patients.
- Care for patients undergoing cardiac procedures such as ablations, left atrial appendages, ICDs, and permanent pacemakers.
- Provide a high level of care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain.
- Manage 3-4 patients based on acuity level, potentially up to 5 depending on staffing.
