About The Position

The Travel Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides skilled physical therapy in patients’ homes to restore, maintain, and promote mobility, independence, and quality of life. This role serves adults and geriatric patients with post-surgical, acute, or chronic conditions who require mobility, balance, or functional rehabilitation. Assignments are based on client needs and may require flexibility for multiple patients or float coverage. The PTA must adhere to client-specific policies, procedures, and productivity standards. Extensions may be offered based on performance and client needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Active PTA license in assigned state(s).
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience preferred.
  • Travel flexibility and ability to adapt to home environments.
  • HIPAA, infection control, and safety protocols.
  • Abuse, neglect, and exploitation prevention.
  • Emergency procedures and OSHA compliance.
  • Client-specific onboarding and competency training.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patient mobility, strength, and functional status.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide therapy interventions including exercise, gait training, and functional mobility.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, safety, and equipment.
  • Recommend and train in the use of durable medical equipment (DME).
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation per client and regulatory standards.
  • Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants if applicable.
  • Meet client-established visit and documentation targets.
  • Maintain high-quality care while meeting productivity standards.
  • Participate in audits and performance improvement initiatives.
