About The Position

This role involves supporting labor needs at various Sargento locations through regular travel. The position requires a punctual, self-starting individual with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A willingness to take direction and learn new skills is essential. The job involves hands-on work and a variety of daily tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Willingness to complete forklift certification upon hire.
  • Ability to learn and carry out lock out tag out procedures.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform data entry for inventory systems and labeling software.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED/HSED) required or minimally enrolled with anticipated completion in 12 months or less.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior manufacturing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all GMPs and safety regulations, including proper PPE usage.
  • Reports accidents, injuries, and equipment needing repair immediately.
  • Reads and understands production orders to verify product information.
  • Verifies availability of raw materials and supplies, reporting shortages.
  • Completes required paperwork and data entry for quality and production checks.
  • Visually checks raw product and equipment for foreign objects and GMP compliance.
  • Measures or weighs raw materials according to production orders.
  • Prepares bulk cheese (unboxing, decasing, removing plastic wrap).
  • Safely operates, assembles, and disassembles equipment (harps, grinders, cutters, blenders, Urschels).
  • Monitors and replaces harp/die wires as needed.
  • Properly places trim, further processing, and inedible product in designated containers.
  • Properly moves/lifts pallets, using a 2-person lift technique when appropriate.
  • Accurately scans warehouse managed items and reports scanning errors.
  • Maintains, loads, and monitors packing equipment, performing minor adjustments.
  • Coordinates setup and placement of packing equipment (auto case packer, tape machines, printers, conveyors).
  • Verifies correct label information.
  • Loads and stacks completed packages or containers onto pallets.
  • Ensures product samples are taken and labeled according to specifications.
  • Inspects and packs product to meet customer expectations.
  • Handles and operates RF gun scanners and replaces batteries.
  • Safely operates industrial power equipment.
  • Performs sanitation responsibilities using cleaning chemicals and specialized equipment.
  • Assists others in Prep, Pack, and Sanitation areas.
  • Ensures quality and quantity of work meets company standards.
  • Trains individuals as assigned.
