About The Position

The primary purpose of the Cashier is to directly interact with customers and provide fast and friendly customer service while maintaining a clean safe environment. This role involves greeting customers, responding to inquiries, handling complaints, processing sales accurately, managing cash, stocking merchandise, ensuring product availability, and maintaining store cleanliness. The position also requires adherence to security and loss prevention procedures, effective teamwork, and compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Requirements

Physically capable of standing for long hours.
General knowledge of all point-of-sale equipment.
Must be able to lift up-to 50 pounds following proper lifting procedures.

Responsibilities

Greet every customer in a quick and courteous manner.
Provide a pleasant shopping experience for all customers and respond to customer inquiries in a timely fashion.
Handle all customer complaints according to company policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain product knowledge and provide customers with product recommendations.
Process customer sales accurately and efficiently in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Perform till balancing as per company procedures at the start and end of each shift.
Ensure cash drawer levels are maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Receive and stock all merchandise in accordance with company policy.
Ensure stock is faced up, clean and presentable at all times.
Apply the FIFO (first in first out) system, when receiving or stocking any product.
Ensure all damaged and/or out of date stock is removed, accurately recorded and placed in designated quarantine area.
Follow portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize loss.
Maintain full control of the store and its contents at all times using prevention techniques as per company to minimize loss (i.e. drive offs or retail theft etc).
Follow company policies and procedures for securing the premises upon end of day closure.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, including sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning walls, counters, tables and service equipment.
Clean the customer service area by removing trash, cleaning restrooms and the parking lot.
Work effectively with others in a positive, supportive and cooperative manner.
Help other team members in their duties and assist new associates in learning their new job skills.
Communicate any issues of concerns and ensure all internal matters are presented to GM in a timely manner.
Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner to assure workers, customers, suppliers/contractors and the environment are not at risk.
Comply with all company safety policies, procedures and instructions.
Use materials handling procedures and equipment provided to minimize contamination or injury.
Report to management any unsafe practice or condition and follow all Onvo safety initiatives.
