About The Position

This position involves operating MRI and auxiliary equipment, processing images, and maintaining and cleaning equipment. The role requires maintaining required documentation and preparing patients for MRI examinations. The technologist will explain procedures in layman's terms, ensure consent forms are obtained, and position patients according to departmental standards. They will also monitor patient conditions, recognize and report abnormalities, and operate equipment for image transfer and archival. Processing and maintaining exposed images, labeling films, and ensuring proper marking and identification are key responsibilities. The role also includes performing related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program, required.
  • New York State and/or Connecticut Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience performing radiologic exams, required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for exam, relieving anxiety by translating examination into layman terms and ensuring consent form is obtained if necessary.
  • Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards, procedures, and protocols. Positions patient for radiographs, arranges immobilization devices, and adjusts x-ray equipment for correct exposure.
  • Monitors patient’s condition in accordance with technical and safety standards, recognizing and promptly reporting motor abnormalities to the Radiologist.
  • Keys in Patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from requisition.
  • Monitors patient’s condition during the procedure.
  • Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival of disc memory to tape.
  • Processes and maintains exposed images, labels film for identification, and maintains required records.
  • Utilizes film markers and ensures images are properly marked as the “right” or “left” side.
  • Ensures images are legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification.
  • Enters the exam onto the daily log sheet as needed.
  • Properly completes the correct tracking steps for each examination.
  • Performs related duties, as required.
