This role involves assessing patient response to dialysis therapy, making appropriate adjustments and modifications to treatment plans as indicated/directed by supervisors or prescribed by the physician. It includes assessment of patients pre, interim, and post dialysis and documentation of findings. The technician will administer medications as ordered to assigned patients, assess educational needs of patients and educate the patient and family regarding end stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet and medications. Flexibility to travel to the assignment location, availability to work the facility’s required schedule, and willingness to complete onboarding items in a timely manner are essential. The ability to quickly adapt to new environments and strive for the highest quality of patient care is also required. This role is also referred to as: renal care technician, dialysis technician, dialysis tech.
