About The Position

This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a travel center environment. Key duties include managing customer queues, ensuring fast and friendly service, completing assigned shift duties, safeguarding company assets, and adhering to policies regarding cash control and safe operation. The position also involves following correct vendor check-in procedures, completing end-of-shift paperwork, and promptly addressing any spills or hazardous conditions. Additional duties may be assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand, and write English at an eighth-grade level.
  • Ability to hear the spoken word.
  • Pass all required training, including alcohol, tobacco, UST, and food handler testing.
  • Eighth-grade level math competency for making change, completing reports, and accounting for product numbers.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to check identification.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers, gas consoles, and other equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., carrying cases of soft drinks, beer, juice) at least once per shift.
  • Ability to stock shelves and coolers, including entering and working in a cooler at 36 degrees for up to 30 minutes at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service, including opening additional registers when queues exceed two customers.
  • Complete all assigned shift duties.
  • Safeguard company assets by following policies regarding cash control and proper safe operation.
  • Follow correct vendor check-in procedures.
  • Complete all end of shift paperwork.
  • Address any spills or hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
