About The Position

Operates cath lab and auxiliary equipment, processes images, and maintains and cleans equipment. Maintains required documentation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program, required.
  • New York State and/or Connecticut Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience performing radiologic exams, required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for exam by relieving anxiety and explaining the procedure in layman's terms. Ensures consent form for procedure is obtained if necessary.
  • Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards and procedures. Positions patient for radiographs, arranges immobilization devices, and adjusts x-ray equipment for correct exposure.
  • Monitors patient’s condition during the procedure, recognizing and reporting abnormalities such as fainting, discoloration, or contrast reactions to the Radiologist. Keys in patient history data and other pertinent information. Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival of disc memory to tape.
  • Processes and maintains exposed images, labels film for identification, and maintains required records. Utilizes film markers to ensure correct side identification and legibly labeled images with correct date and patient identification. Enters the exam onto the daily log sheet and completes tracking steps for each examination.
  • Performs related duties as required.
