About The Position

Functions of Position:  Promotes good public relations for the nursing department/hospital.  Provides for patient privacy at all times.  Assists in admissions, transfers, and discharges. Collects and documents patient admission data correctly. Secures disposition of patient belongings.  Competently performs core and unit specific clinical skills.  Knowledgeable of proper and safe use of patient care equipment.  Lead prescribed individual or group therapy sessions.  Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.  Ability to communicate and interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.  Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.  Ability to observe, assess, and record vital signs, symptoms, reactions, and progress.  Ability to provide therapeutic patient care to mentally, emotionally, and/or developmentally disabled individuals.  Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.  Ability to assess and provide for the day-to-day needs of mentally, emotionally and/or developmentally disabled patients.  Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate patients.  Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records/charts.  Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.  Aid in basic patient care such as eating, bathing, dressing and teaching and encouraging basic hygiene and other daily living skills while observing patient progress to identify the need f or additional services or changes in current treatment.  Provide behavioral health emergency assistance, such as verbal de-escalation, seclusion or patient restraint as well as recognize and report homicidal or suicidal comments or behaviors. Qualifications:  BLS training, SECURE training  Previous Certified Nurse Assistant/Nurse Assistant experience required. Working Conditions:  Will work in close contact with patients who have moderate to severe psychiatric concerns and/or behavioral issues. There is possible exposure to violent behavior from patients and/or infectious diseases as a part of their daily duties.

  • SECURE training
  • Previous Certified Nurse Assistant/Nurse Assistant experience required.
