About The Position

The Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties Inc. is seeking a full-time Trauma Therapist to join the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) team. The CAC provides a safe, child-friendly environment for children and families facing allegations of child abuse, offering comprehensive services. This multidisciplinary team includes law enforcement, child protective services, mental health and medical professionals, prosecutors, and advocates. The Therapist will provide therapeutic services, crisis intervention, and advocacy, including information and referral for victims of interpersonal crime, sexual assault, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and secondary survivors. The role involves individual and group therapy, forensic interview advocacy, hotline support, and outreach. Services must be culturally responsive, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed.

Requirements

Master’s degree and licensure in a mental health field.
Experience in specialized trauma-informed mental health services for child victims of abuse, adult survivors, and non-offending family members.
Knowledge of sexual assault, child abuse, crisis intervention, and culturally responsive service delivery.
Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
Proficiency in written communication, public speaking, smartphones, and computer systems.
Understanding of HIPPA privacy laws.

Regular and steady attendance.
Possession of a valid NYS driver’s license with a MVR eligible for agency insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

Develop/facilitate therapeutic services, crisis intervention, and advocacy.
Provide information and referral services to victims of interpersonal crime and sexual assault (and their families), survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and secondary survivors.
Conduct individual and group therapy.
Perform forensic interview advocacy.
Provide hotline support.
Participate in outreach efforts.
Ensure all services are culturally responsive, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed.
Provide evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment to child victims of abuse and their family members/caregivers.
Deliver crisis intervention services via phone or in person.
Maintain a caseload of 25-30 clients.
Provide assessments using standardized measures, treatment planning, and completing intakes.
Maintain accurate and current case records.
Facilitate supportive and educational groups for victims' families and the community.
Assist clients with completing and submitting crime-victim compensation claim applications.
Respond to client-related calls and correspondence to support treatment, provide personal advocacy, and offer medical and legal advocacy.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records, service logs, progress notes, and related documentation.
Collaborate in the planning of professional training for professionals working with this population.
Provide outreach and prevention education programming.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including participation in monthly team meetings and coordinating treatment and on-going collaboration with community agencies.
Record statistical demographic information for national database and grant reporting via computer.
Provide clinical expertise to crisis hot-line volunteers and 24-hour crisis hot-line support.
