Cooper University Health Care is seeking an extraordinary professional to join their team as a Trauma Technician. This role involves assisting RN and physician staff with the care of critically ill and injured patients in the Trauma Surgical ICU (TSICU). The TSICU is a 28-bed critical care unit specializing in the care of traumatically injured patients or those undergoing complex surgeries requiring close monitoring. Patients admitted to this unit often have traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures, lung injuries, orthopedic injuries, and may be poly-trauma patients with injuries involving multiple body systems. Common surgical patients include those undergoing Whipple procedures, esophagectomies, gastrostomies, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners, resident physicians, attending trauma surgeons, respiratory therapy, and specialized surgical groups. Staff receive education specific to the care of the trauma patient. The Trauma Technician is responsible for stocking and ordering equipment and supplies, maintaining a 24-hour ready status in all units, and cleaning, maintaining, and stocking unit equipment and supplies in procedure carts.
