About The Position

The Trauma Quality Data Analyst is responsible for the collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of trauma registry data to support performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and optimal patient outcomes. This role ensures adherence to state and national trauma standards and plays a critical role in identifying trends, opportunities for improvement, and supporting the trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program, Community Outreach and Injury Prevention programs. This role is essential to maintaining trauma center designation and improving patient outcomes through data-driven performance improvement. The analyst serves as a bridge between clinical care and quality analytics.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in trauma, critical care, or emergency nursing required.
  • Prior experience in trauma data analysis, trauma performance improvement, quality, or registry management strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of FLDOH and ACS trauma standards and performance improvement methodologies required.
  • Strong understanding of trauma registry data elements, coding, and scoring (ISS, AIS, etc.) and maintain a high level of accuracy in those fields.
  • A displayed mastery of analytical and critical thinking abilities that develop working projects, interventions, policies, procedures, and education to improve outcomes that directly impact outcomes in the injured patient.
  • This requires an ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.
  • Computer system knowledge includes the following programs: Microsoft Office Suite (primarily MS Word, Excell, PowerPoint, Teams), registry software (currently TraumaOne), EHR (currently Epic and PACS)
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Patient data is HPI and strict compliance is required.
  • Knowledge of pre-hospital and inpatient hospital functions including patient movement within Halifax Health facilities and outside facilities to other health systems when indicated
  • Knowledge of hospital policies, care management practice guidelines and employment expectations set forth by Halifax Health Medical Center
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact positively with hospital staff, providers, pre-hospital agencies, outside hospitals, administration, patients, families and the general public
  • Ability to participate in interdisciplinary teams and drive change across the organization through action plans, loop closure and educational opportunities
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current Florida RN license.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director to support the trauma PIPS process.
  • Identify trends, complications, and variances in care through data analysis.
  • Prepare case reviews, filters, and audit reports for multidisciplinary trauma committee meetings.
  • Track loop closure and corrective action outcomes.
  • Attends meetings and quality improvement activities as required, accountable for information presented.
  • Abstract, enter, and validate trauma patient data into the trauma registry in accordance with national standards (e.g., NTDB, TQIP).
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness to meet regulatory submission deadlines.
  • Maintain compliance with state reporting requirements and internal data integrity benchmarks.
  • Perform routine and targeted data validation audits.
  • Generate routine and ad hoc reports for internal stakeholders, leadership, and regulatory bodies.
  • Analyze benchmarking data (e.g., TQIP reports) and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop dashboards and scorecards to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Present findings in a clear, actionable format to clinical and administrative teams.
  • Work closely with trauma registrars, clinical staff, physicians, and leadership.
  • Participate in trauma committees, including quality improvement and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Promote professional, objective communication and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to state trauma system requirements (e.g., Florida Department of Health) and national verification standards (e.g., American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma).
  • Assist in preparation for site visits, surveys, and verification reviews.
  • Maintain documentation supporting compliance with trauma designation criteria.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trauma registry standards, coding updates, and quality methodologies.
  • Participate in continuing education related to trauma data management and performance improvement.
  • Support education of staff regarding documentation and data quality.
