About The Position

Position Purpose: The Trauma Program Registrar (RN) works in a collaborative environment within Trauma Services at St. Mary Medical Center to deliver excellent patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team providing evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care. A Registered Nurse is expected to facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience. The primary objective of this position is to improve quality of a Level II Trauma Center. Maintains the efficient operation of the trauma registry. Performs a wide range of technical duties including chart review, data abstracting and submission, retrieves and compiles statistical information on all trauma patients. Performs performance improvement (PI) studies based on predetermined criteria. Works closely with all trauma surgeons to meet the requirements for the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF). What you will do: Employment Type/Shift: Full Time Days Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, including developing, evaluating, and modifying the care plan. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their expertise. RNs are members of the Care Team and Support Team and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care. The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team members, according to established standards. Patients served include all age groups (Infant through Older Adults as identified in Performance Standards).

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program approved.
  • Current Registered Nurse license by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing or Compact State.
  • Minimum of BLS.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Prior relevant experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of Critical Care RN experience preferred.
  • Certifications aligned with area of responsibility.
