About The Position

Responsible for providing trauma injury prevention education to the community. This position will provide trauma-related education programs, and other community outreach education identified by the trauma program. Become a leader in the local and rural communities to provide trauma prevention programs, trauma education programs, and outreach activities in accordance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) criteria. All employees must adhere to the following at all times: Employee is expected to adhere to UTMC Service Values including iCare standards at all times. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues. Knowledgeable about patient safety and quality of care issues. Able to recognize safety issues in the department and handles incidents per institutional and/or departmental policies and procedures. If safety issues were identified; all issues were handled timely and appropriately. Employee attends and follows all department-specific safety education and training in an effort to create a safe work environment.

Requirements

Current, Active RN Licensure in the State of Ohio
Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
American Heart Association CPR ACLS certification required (will accept at time of hire only CPR)
Valid Driver’s License
Reliable transportation for off-campus events
Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex environment
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a trauma critical care or emergency care setting
Demonstrate leadership skills and expertise in planning, organizing, and articulating ideas and concepts
Demonstrate leadership skills to participate in community education programs
Ability to develop and design educational programs
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively
Ability to do public speaking
Knowledge of computer systems and data analytics including Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word

Nice To Haves

BSN Preferred
Trauma Nurse Core Certification (TNCC) preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained throughout employment in position
TNCC instructor preferred
Demonstrates knowledge of ACS standards is preferred
