About The Position

Valley Baptist Health System is seeking a Trauma/General Surgery Physician Assistant to join their team. Under the direction of a physician, the PA will provide direct patient care, including gathering patient history, performing physical exams, ordering and interpreting tests, and administering therapeutic procedures. The role involves maintaining accurate manual and electronic records (EMR), adhering to Tenet's mission, policies, and compliance plan, and ensuring all patient care documentation is completed according to policy. The PA will fulfill duties assigned by the physician, report any adverse reactions, and participate in patient review conferences and staffing. Additionally, the PA will assist the physician with various committees and activities such as Utilization Review, Quality Assurance, Program Evaluation, Infection Control, and Safety Committee. The role includes ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, performing and overseeing procedures, conducting health teaching and counseling, providing consultative direction to staff, and ordering medications. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited PA program
  • PA licensure
  • DEA eligible
  • Additional certification(s) per governing board and in accordance with the facility Medical Staff Bylaws.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including gathering detailed history and performing physical exams.
  • Perform or order tests and interpret results.
  • Administer therapeutic procedures as directed.
  • Instruct on care and maintain written charts and records on patients.
  • Maintain appropriate manual and electronic records (EMR).
  • Adhere to and support the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
  • Adhere to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Demonstrate support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Provide physician assistant services to patients as directed by the physician’s patient care plan and supervised by the physician.
  • Ensure completion of all required documentation of patient care activities in accordance with TPR policy.
  • Fulfill all duties assigned by physician.
  • Report to the attending physician of any injuries or adverse reactions during or after treatment.
  • Participate in patient review conferences and staffing.
  • Assist the physician with Utilization Review, Quality Assurance, Program Evaluation, Infection Control, Safety Committee activities.
  • Adhere to the established policies and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
  • Order and interpret the results of laboratory tests as part of the physical examination and health management.
  • Perform and oversee testing and other appropriate procedures.
  • Conduct health teaching and counseling during the physical exam, as appropriate.
  • Provide consultative direction as needed for nursing, laboratory and clinic assistant staff.
  • Order medications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
