About The Position

St. Francis Medical Center is a leading comprehensive healthcare institution in Los Angeles, providing vital healthcare services to the community. The hospital is recognized for its full range of diagnostic and treatment services in various specialties, including Emergency and Trauma Care. St. Francis Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center. This role involves assisting in the coordination, integration, and implementation of organization-wide performance improvement activities to ensure compliance with company policies and state/federal regulatory and accreditation standards. Activities include chart reviews, data abstraction for CMS Core Measures and other quality outcomes studies, and staff education regarding core measures and updates regarding new and enhance indicators. The primary responsibilities encompass all aspects of a database model for trauma patients.

Requirements

  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • AAAM Course Certificate of Attendance within one year of hire.
  • ATS Data Registrar Certificate of Attendance within one year of hire.
  • Excellent computer skills are required including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Experience in reviewing charts for care issues.
  • Detail oriented organizational skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple cases, directions and be able to follow-through.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Experience with Medical Staff communication a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills with exceptional professional work ethics.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, database and typing.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately identifies all patients for entry into the hospital trauma registry.
  • Abstracts data from the medical records of appropriately identified and defined trauma patients.
  • Completes and verifies for accuracy all data collected as a requirement for a level 1 trauma center.
  • Assigns and scores all injuries utilizing the AIS and ICD-9 system, ICD 10 accurate E-codes.
  • Collects and codes data on all procedures and complications.
  • Maintains a paperless data process.
  • Optimizes all available electronic resources to support the trauma data process.
  • Ensures that all data is validated and maintains a concurrent and comprehensive data validation process.
