About The Position

The Primary responsibility of the Trash Tech is to remove trash, dirty linen, biohazardous materials, pharmacy waste and recycling from all areas of the hospital and place it in properly in its designated location. Performs any other Environmental Service related duties as needed by his/her direct supervisor and or management.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Equivalent work experience is a plus.
  • Within 90 days of hire, employee must complete DOT & biohazard waste handling via the Stericycle training programs.
  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear.
  • Lifting is limited to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff.
  • Must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with lifts over 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Remove trash, dirty linen, biohazardous materials, pharmacy waste and recycling from all areas of the hospital.
  • Place removed items in their designated locations.
  • Perform other Environmental Service related duties as needed by his/her direct supervisor and or management.
  • Understand departmental organizational chart.
  • Understand Departmental dress code.
  • Know proper hand washing techniques.
  • Understand methods to prevent cross contamination.
  • Wear appropriate PPE.
  • Know proper use/disposal of gloves.
