About The Position

This position is for a Trash Collector in Winston Salem, NC, with temp-to-hire potential. The role involves collecting garbage, debris, and recyclables from homes, streets, and businesses. Workers will pick up garbage bins and dump refuse into trucks. Reliable transportation is required as the depot is in a remote location not accessible by mass transit. The job is full-time, Monday to Friday, starting at 6:00 AM and typically lasting 10-13 hours, offering significant overtime potential. Workers are expected to be present daily unless prior arrangements are made with their supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Pick up debris and refuse from homes and businesses
• Manually move material into the back of the truck
• Replace trash cans curbside
• Pick up leaves and yard refuse
• Accompany drivers when transporting trash to dump, landfill, or recycling center
• Lift cans by hand and empty into truck
• Use a hydraulic lift to empty contents of the dumpster into their truck
• Operate automated or semi-automated hoisting devices
• Be assigned to one of three routes: Residential (Household trash), Yard Waste, or Recycling
