About The Position

At NewYork-Presbyterian, Transporters are crucial for creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for patients and their families. They act as patient ambassadors, providing a positive experience through friendly interactions and continuous focus on patient care. This role involves maintaining a compassionate and supportive culture, escorting patients throughout the hospital, and responding to their needs courteously and promptly. Transporters are expected to build relationships with patients and families, deliver superior customer service, and ensure patient comfort and safety. Key tasks include transporting patients between nursing units and various hospital departments, as well as making pick-ups and deliveries of Medical Records, Lab Specimens, pharmacy items, and other equipment. The position may also require changing O2 tanks and applying O2 regulators on conveyance vehicles.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Some previous experience in food service is desirable
Ability to follow simple directions

Nice To Haves

Extensive customer service experience and a desire to Put Patients First
Experience in the hotel, restaurant or retail industry

Responsibilities

Maintain a culture of compassion, caring, warmth and support while escorting patients to areas throughout the hospital
Conduct yourself in a courteous manner and respond to patients’ needs and inquiries politely and promptly
Spend quality time and build solid relationships with patients and their families
Go above and beyond for patients, deliver superior customer service and ensure their comfort and safety at all times
Transport patients from the nursing units to various hospital departments
Make pick-ups and deliveries of Medical Records, Lab Specimens, pharmacy and other equipment
May need to change O2 tanks, and apply O2 regulators on conveyance vehicles
