About The Position

The Transporter works in the Central Transportation department at St. Mary's General Hospital, transporting patients to and from the department and providing related clerical and operational support. Duties may include darkroom tasks, ordering and stocking supplies, dressing patients, and front-office work. The role also supports the department by answering telephones, greeting patients and visitors, preparing outpatient requisitions, filing patient reports, retrieving patient records for physicians or Medical Records, and running errands throughout the facility. The Transporter is expected to understand usual terminology for tests ordered in the department and communicate with patients and visitors politely and professionally.

Requirements

Must have BCLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain it throughout employment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrate adequate knowledge of usual terminology for tests ordered in the department.
Demonstrate good telephone etiquette and greet patients and visitors politely and in a friendly manner.

Transportation experience preferred.
