The Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to and from their destinations in a professional, courteous and compassionate manner. This service will enable nurses, clinical partners, physicians, diagnostic technicians and therapists to perform their duties in an efficient and effective manner. Ensures all patient interactions are conducted using the concept of AIDET as the primary communication tool. Responsibilities also include movement of equipment, supplies and operation of elevators to facilitate patient and equipment transports. These services include, but are not limited to transporting patients, equipment and supplies between nursing units, diagnostic areas, emergency department and morgue. The Transporter must work collaboratively with Management, the Dispatch Call Center and all healthcare team personnel.
Requirements
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Must possess the ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to provide compassionate and courteous patient care.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with a team.
- Must be able to operate elevators.
- Must be able to transport patients, equipment, and supplies.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience as a patient transporter or in a similar role.
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with AIDET communication tool.
